Let’s have fun with condoms!

In a post last year, we went in depth about the different types of lube but did you know that there are so many different types of condoms out there?

 Let’s start with the most common condom which is latex:

Latex condoms can prevent both pregnancy and STDs. These condoms come in various forms such as flavored, ribbed and/or studded (textured), glow in the dark, fun colors and there are even condoms that are warming and cooling. (Disclaimer for warming and cooling condoms: Just make sure that you get tested and make sure that you do not have a STD since warming and cooling condoms can leave a tingly feeling on the genitals. It may just be the condom’s added on sensation or it can be a STD). People can be allergic to latex condoms as well so there are other options that you can try.

Polyurethane and Polyisoprene:

These are alternatives for those who are allergic to latex condoms. Both types can protect against pregnancy and STDs. Some people like these types of condoms since they are thinner, very flexible and has a more natural feel compared to latex condoms.

 Female Condom:

 The Female Condom is a non-latex condom that can be inserted into a vagina. Practicing how to put one in properly will help to decrease your chances of getting pregnant and contracting any STDs. Do not use a female condom with a male condom since the two materials rubbing together can cause them to break – we don’t want that to happen!

 Lambskin:

 This condom can ONLY protect against pregnancy NOT STDs. Some people do prefer this type of condom due to the natural material (they are made from sheep intestines) but please remember the potential risks of using these condoms and make sure that you are getting tested regularly.
